Upcoming Events

Our local folk dance caller extraordinaire for the Country Dance held in October, David Millstone, has been awarded the lifetime achievement award from the Country Dance and Song Society.  The award ceremony will be Saturday, June 13th at Tracy Hall in Norwich.

All of our libraries will be hosting The Vermont Historical Society for a special version of their very popular Vermont History Trivia just for 2026, featuring new questions on topics related to early Vermont, the Revolutionary War, Indigenous culture, and more.  The plan is to hold a trivia event on Friday, April 17th at the Wilder Library, 78 Norwich Avenue at 6:00 p.m.  There will be a representative from the Vermont Historical Society there to host with plenty of refreshments and prizes.

Memorial Day 2026 (Monday May 25) Dedication of the new monument for Hartford’s Korea Era (1950-1958), Vietnam Era (1958-1975) and Post-1975 Era (1975-2025) Veterans. 10 a.m. in Veterans Memorial Park on Railroad Row.

The “Hartford 250th Reenactment Living History” event is scheduled for the public on Friday, May 29 4-7 p.m. and Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Kilowatt North.

The “Hartford Commemorates America’s 250th Parade” will be held on Saturday, June 27 starting at 10:30 a.m.  This was formerly called the Alumni Day Parade, but it has been renamed in honor of America’s 250th.

Why is commemorating the nation’s 250th birthday important? cards will be available at the “Hartford Commemorates America’s 250th” picnic on Saturday, June 27 after the parade at the Lyman Point Park at Town Hall.

Memoir writing workshop “Back in My Day” by Erin Moulton will be held at the Quechee Library at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday June 3, 2026.

Genealogy presentation on “Cemetery Sleuthing” by Erin Moulton will be held at the Wilder Club and Library at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday June 3, 2026.

“18th Century Medicinal and Culinary Herbs” presented by Arlene Bettigole to be held at the Wilder Club and Library on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

July 4th Celebration with special additions to mark this important 250th anniversary!

Dartmouth College Professor Colin Galloway (featured in Ken Burns’ documentary The American Revolution) will be the guest speaker for the Hartford Historical Society Program on Wednesday, September 9 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Greater Hartford United Church of Christ.

Izzy Provoncha, military re-enactor, will be the guest speaker for the Hartford Historical Society Program on Wednesday, November 11 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Greater Hartford United Church of Christ.

Past

“Early American Christmas in Hartford Village.” 1-6 p.m., Saturday, December 6, 2025. Presented by the Hartford Historical Society, Cornerstone Community Center, Hartford Library, Hartford Dismas House, and the Congregational Church.  This free, festive community-wide event will feature traditional crafts, caroling, and an Early American Dinner.
